The Order of St. Columba has a deep relationship with the Blessed Mother. She is our mother, the mother of the Order and the mother of our hearts. The white scapular that is worn is a symbol of this devotion to Mary and our Marian devotion. She is the purity that we all hope to desire and to become through her blessedness.
The Order for its part has always adored the blessed Virgin and the ancient Celtic peoples wrote about her extensively in what we have left. In our own apostolic lineage, we come from the Old Catholic Mariavite Church which was blessed by the Old Catholic Church in Utrecht in 1909 with the elevation of the OCMC's first Bishop, Bishop Kowalski. While Bishop Kowalski eventually would introduce things not in line with the Catholic faith, those Bishops that were Orthodox and True to the faith carried on the movement after he was excommunicated from the Old Catholic Church.
